Coming Soon to Spring Mountain: “Pot On Fire” Ignites Former “The Best Hot Pot” Location

Pot on Fire is replacing The Best Hot Pot on Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas. The new name, signage, and a “Now Hiring” banner signal a change in ownership and a soon-to-open new hot pot concept.
Chinatown foodies, keep an eye on Spring Mountain Road! We’ve noticed a significant change at the former home of “The Best Hot Pot” at 4355 Spring Mountain Rd #106 (downstairs from Ichiza).
While the original name hinted at its specialty, new signage has appeared, rebranding the spot as “Pot On Fire.” Underneath the fiery new name, the familiar tagline “THE BEST HOT POT” remains, but the change suggests more than just a fresh coat of paint.
“Pot On Fire” is a hot pot concept with a presence in California, known for its individual hot pot experience. This rebrand strongly indicates a change in ownership and concept, bringing a new player to the vibrant hot pot scene in Las Vegas. A “We Are Hiring” banner for kitchen and server staff further points to an imminent opening under new management.
We’re excited to see what “Pot On Fire” brings to the table and will keep you updated as more details emerge about their official opening. Get ready for some new simmering sensations!
Still to Come
Culinary Union Panel: “Line in the Sand – Strikes in Las Vegas” on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Sea Harbour by Chef Tony 5780 Spring Mountain Rd Almost Here: The “King of LA Dim Sum” is finally bringing his modern Cantonese seafood and acclaimed dim sum (like delicate har gow and succulent Peking duck) to Vegas, significantly elevating the local dining scene.
Shin-Sen-Gumi Yakitori 4810 Spring Mountain Rd Delayed/2025 Target: The legendary California chain, known for its charcoal-grilled skewers and lively izakaya atmosphere, is still on its way. Look for an update soon!
Matcha Maiko Cafe Hotai Plaza (next to Nabe Hotpot) Coming Soon: This Hawaiian-born teahouse is opening its first Vegas location to serve authentic Japanese matcha treats and vibrant green desserts.
Mukgo Nolza Just west of the I-15 Freeway (near The Sand Dollar Lounge) 2025 Opening: A massive sci-fi-themed venue blending gourmet Asian cuisine with an “otherworldly” karaoke experience in 21 themed noraebang rooms. The name means “let’s eat and play” in Korean.
Kao Gang Thai Fast Food A new flavor is about to join the bustling Spring Oaks Shopping Center at Spring Mountain and Decatur! This massive plaza is set to welcome a Thai fast food restaurant called Kao Gang.
Pot on Fire We don’t know if this is new owners or a rebrand, but we will provide an update as soon as possible

📜 Looking Back

A look back at the time of Las Vegas Chinatown
By This Week in Chinatown Staff
How Chinatown Vegas Broke the Double Zero Story First
As Double Zero Pie & Pub solidifies its status as a Chinatown destination and racks up awards, it’s worth looking back at the publication that broke the news—not once, but multiple times—months before anyone else: This Week in Chinatown.
Our dedication to exclusive, in-depth coverage ensures that our readers are always the first to know the most exciting developments in the neighborhood. Here is a look at our timeline of exclusives on the now-famous pizzeria.

New sign up at 00 Pie & Pub
Phase 1: The Initial Break and Tease
We were the very first to tell the valley about the impending arrival of Double Zero Pie & Pub. This news wasn’t a rumor; it was an exclusive.
The Original Scoop: We officially announced the new Neapolitan-style pizza concept was coming to Chinatown months ago, sparking anticipation.
Original Double Zero Breaking News Article
The First Visuals: Following the initial announcement, we published the first-ever photos of the restaurant and a sneak peek at their magnificent pies. This was also when we began to tease the culinary celebrity behind the concept, hinting that a nationally and internationally recognized pizza champion was preparing to take the lead in the kitchen.
Phase 2: Revealing the Champion and Their First Grand Win
The anticipation built as we teased the identity of the award-winning chef. We were the first to reveal his name and, in the same breath, report on one of the restaurant’s first major accolades.
Champion Revealed and First Place Secured: In our March 22, 2024 issue, we officially revealed that the pizza champion was Chef Michael Vakneen. We also broke the simultaneous news that Chef Vakneen and Double Zero Pie & Pub had just earned a monumental victory: FIRST PLACE in the International Pizza Challenge’s Non-Traditional Division for 2024! This achievement confirmed the level of talent coming to Chinatown, adding a brilliant layer of excitement to the restaurant’s pre-opening buzz. This award was just the beginning of the numerous awards and industry recognitions they have since received.
Read the full exclusive here: This Week in Chinatown: July 7 – 2023
From the initial whispers to the grand reveal of a champion, This Week in Chinatown has been the exclusive and reliable source for the Double Zero Pie & Pub story. We look forward to continuing to cover their successes as they make Chinatown proud.

😤 Chinatown Gripes
Same Song, Different Week
If this section feels repetitive, that’s because it is — and that’s exactly the problem. The issues we keep raising week after week aren’t getting fixed. The poorly timed traffic lights, dangerous left turns, speeding cars, dim crosswalks, and crumbling asphalt along Spring Mountain remain just as frustrating as ever.
We’re not repeating ourselves for the sake of it — we’re repeating ourselves because nothing has changed. Until someone with a bigger platform or more pull picks up these concerns, we’ll keep using our voice to shine a light on them.
Some of the ongoing gripes:
- 🚌 Horrendously placed bus pick-up and drop-off points create unnecessary bottlenecks
- 🕳️ Crater-like potholes that seem to grow by the week
- 🚦 Insanely long and miscalculated traffic light timers that make even short drives feel endless
- 🏃♀️ A speed limit that’s far too high for a tourist area with heavy pedestrian foot traffic
- Constant congestion from left turns being allowed out of the main strip malls
Chinatown deserves safer streets, smarter signals, and smoother roads. These are not new complaints — just ongoing ones waiting for real action.
