Potential Cannabis Shake-Up on Spring Mountain?
Sources tell ChinatownVegas.com that Mint Cannabis may be eyeing the current Cultivate dispensary location at 3615 Spring Mountain Rd., and state licensing filings appear to support that possibility. ChinatownVegas.com reached out to Mint Cannabis for comment but did not receive a response by publication time, so it remains unclear whether the move would involve an acquisition, rebrand, or new operational expansion into the Chinatown corridor.

Chinatown Spotlight
Viet Noodle Bar Carries On a Las Vegas Pho Legacy
For many longtime Las Vegas locals, the closure of Pho So 1 after 31 years felt deeply personal. For decades, the restaurant was one of Chinatown’s most recognizable Vietnamese dining establishments. In this place, late-night pho runs, family dinners, post-club meals, and weekend gatherings became part of life for generations of locals and visitors alike.
But while the original Pho So 1 location may now be gone, its culinary legacy has not disappeared from the Spring Mountain corridor.
Many people may not realize that the Vu family behind Pho So 1 also owns and operates Viet Noodle Bar, located at 5288 Spring Mountain Rd. For loyal customers mourning the loss of Pho So 1, that connection matters — because many of the flavors, recipes, cooking techniques, and traditions that made Pho So 1 iconic continue living on through Viet Noodle Bar’s kitchen today.

The spacious, modern interior of Viet Noodle Bar at 5288 Spring Mountain Rd. The restaurant features a contemporary industrial design, ample seating for large groups, and a full bar in the background, carrying on a long-standing Chinatown dining legacy.
The restaurant has quietly become both a modern Vietnamese dining destination and a continuation of one of Chinatown’s longtime culinary stories. Diners familiar with Pho So 1 will immediately recognize the deeply layered broths, comforting noodle dishes, and attention to flavor that helped define Vietnamese dining on Spring Mountain Road for more than three decades.
Viet Noodle Bar has developed its own loyal following over the years thanks to standout dishes like bun bo hue, oxtail pho, pho ap chao bao, garlic noodles, and other Vietnamese comfort classics. Open late into the evening, the restaurant continues serving the kind of hearty, satisfying meals that have long made Chinatown Las Vegas a go-to destination after concerts, casino shifts, nights out, and family gatherings.
The atmosphere may feel more modern than the original Pho So 1, with sleek interior design, cocktails, and a more contemporary presentation. Still, underneath it all remains the same foundation that built one of Las Vegas’ most respected Vietnamese restaurant families. In many ways, Viet Noodle Bar represents both the past and future of Chinatown dining — honoring old-school recipes while evolving alongside the corridor itself.
As Las Vegas Chinatown continues changing at a rapid pace, stories like this are becoming increasingly important. Restaurants come and go, plazas redevelop, and new concepts constantly arrive, but the families behind many of the corridor’s most beloved kitchens continue shaping its identity year after year.
For longtime fans of Pho So 1, wondering where to reconnect with those familiar flavors, Viet Noodle Bar is the closest thing to coming home.

Pacifica Vegas Set to Reshape Chinatown’s East Gateway
One of the most ambitious projects currently planned for the Spring Mountain corridor is moving closer to reality. Pacifica Vegas — often referred to as Pacifica Plaza — is poised to transform a long-vacant 3.2-acre site between Polaris Avenue and Procyon Street into a massive new entertainment, dining, and retail destination just one mile west of the Las Vegas Strip.
The $70 million development is expected to bring a modern, high-density “vertical plaza” concept to Chinatown, spanning approximately 116,000 square feet across three stories. Developed by Windfall Group, the project is being designed as a destination hub blending upscale retail, authentic Asian dining, nightlife, and immersive entertainment concepts.
One of the biggest talking points — especially for longtime Chinatown visitors — is the parking plan. Pacifica Vegas is slated to include more than 650 parking spaces inside a multi-story parking structure reportedly rising as high as eight stories, a massive addition for a corridor where parking shortages have long been one of the community’s biggest challenges.

An official dusk rendering of Pacifica Vegas — Asian Life Center, the $70 million mixed-use development planned for Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas Chinatown. Groundbreaking is targeted for fall 2026
But this project goes far beyond retail and restaurants. Plans also call for a rooftop cigar lounge, a live performance stage for concerts and entertainment events, a recording studio, a Chinatown Visitor Center and additional experiential concepts aimed at creating an all-day and late-night destination atmosphere. The vision appears focused on bringing even more energy and foot traffic to the eastern side of Chinatown while continuing the district’s evolution beyond dining alone.
The development is expected to complement nearby businesses and entertainment anchors, including The Sand Dollar Lounge and the soon-to-open Aroma Latin American Cocina, helping push more of the modern “Shanghai Plaza-style” momentum further east toward the Strip.
Groundbreaking is currently targeted for fall 2026.
Looking Back
Before EDC Took Over Las Vegas
If you dined on Spring Mountain Road this past weekend, you already know — EDC does something special to Chinatown. The corridor was absolutely packed, with restaurants running long waits, boba shops stretched out the door, and the usual late-night energy cranked up several notches. Every year, the hundreds of thousands of festival-goers who descend on Las Vegas Motor Speedway spill over into Chinatown, turning an already vibrant dining district into something that feels closer to a full-blown street festival. For local businesses, EDC weekend is one of the biggest revenue weekends of the year.

Elena @nerdyelenaldn, who traveled from Hong Kong multiple years specifically for EDC Las Vegas — proof that the festival’s reach is truly global
It’s worth pausing to appreciate how far that festival has come — and how unlikely its rise once seemed.
Long before EDC became the global spectacle it is today, its foundation was being built in the mid-1990s Southern California underground rave scene. In 1995, Philip Blaine — Pasquale Rotella’s partner at the time — made the deal granting use of the name “Electric Daisy Carnival” to Rotella, who would go on to become CEO of Insomniac Events. Before EDC’s launch, the two also created the now-legendary Organic ’96 event, one of the defining gatherings of the early rave movement that helped shape the production style Insomniac would carry into the future.
That scrappy underground culture eventually grew into one of the largest electronic music festivals on the planet — and Las Vegas, including Spring Mountain Road, is better for it. This year, we even came across a visitor who had traveled overseas to attend EDC for multiple years in a row, a reminder of just how far its reach extends. Next time you’re waiting in line at your favorite Chinatown spot during festival weekend, you have a couple of passionate 1990s promoters to thank for starting the whole thing.
Elena, @nerdyelenaldn, said that besides EDC, “Chinatown’s vibrant energy is the reason I leave the strip “.
Chinatown Gripes
Social Media Erupts Over Spring Mountain Road Conditions
Last week, we covered the growing concerns surrounding road conditions and infrastructure challenges along Spring Mountain Road. This week, the conversation exploded across social media after FOX5 Vegas spotlighted the issue in a widely shared Facebook post that quickly gained traction online.
The post generated more than 630 reactions and hundreds of comments, with locals, visitors, and longtime Chinatown supporters flooding the comment section with frustrations, personal experiences, and calls for improvements throughout the corridor.
Reading through the comments, one thing becomes very clear: people care deeply about Chinatown — but many also believe the infrastructure has not kept pace with the district’s rapid growth and popularity.
Commenters pointed to everything from potholes and rough pavement to traffic congestion, difficult pedestrian crossings, and the overall wear and tear visible along parts of Spring Mountain Road. Others noted how surprising it is that one of the busiest dining and cultural destinations in the USA continues facing these longstanding issues despite the area’s enormous economic and tourism impact.
At this point, anyone reading the room can see that the public attention around Chinatown infrastructure is only getting louder.
ALSO: Left turns out of strip malls, the speed limit being too high, poorly placed bus stops and pickup locations, and counterproductive traffic light timing continue to be some of the most common frustrations repeatedly voiced by both locals and visitors navigating the corridor.
