Welcome to the latest issue of This Week in Chinatown, your guide to Las Vegas Chinatown events 2025! Last night, the legendary Taiwanese rock band Mayday rocked Allegiant Stadium for their Las Vegas debut on their 25th Anniversary Tour. Spring is in full bloom—well, cloudy today, but hey, it’s feeling more like summer—with daytime temps hitting the 80s and nights cooling off to the 60s. On Wednesday, we even saw a scorching high of 93! Our 3+-mile strip along Spring Mountain Rd. buzzed with fresh flavors, vibrant beats, and community spirit all week long.
From new openings to cultural festivals, there was something for everyone to savor this week. Last week, we teased big changes coming to the entrance of Chinatown—they happened, and trust us, they lived up to the hype! In this issue, we’ve got more on that, a follow-up on the horrific road conditions, a peek at what’s coming, and more relevant news. So, starting from the east and heading west, let’s have a look at what went down through March 30, 2025:

Community Safety Update
We want to address a recent incident that occurred on March 27th, near the eastern edge of our community, specifically around Spring Mountain Rd. and Valley View. A carjacking took place, involving a suspect linked to a homicide in North Las Vegas. This resulted in a police pursuit, culminating in an arrest near Boulder Highway after a vehicle crash.
It’s important to emphasize that this incident appears to be an isolated and random act, part of a series of unrelated carjackings that occurred over several hours, and is not representative of the typical safety profile of our Chinatown neighborhood. We understand that such events can cause concern, and we want to assure our community that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded swiftly and effectively to apprehend the suspect.
While our neighborhood remains generally safe, we always encourage residents and visitors to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, particularly near the eastern periphery. The LVMPD continues to prioritize the safety of our community and is actively monitoring the situation.
We will continue to provide updates as needed. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Spring Oaks Secrets: Petrol Head & Korean Fried Chicken Buzz
Mystery brews at Spring Oaks Shopping Center!
Next to Tous les Jours, two new spots (?) are sparking chatter. On the left, “Petrol Head” hints at a secretive hideout—maybe a speakeasy vibe?
We’re digging for clues on this one. To the right, whispers of Korean fried chicken are heating up. Could Jihyuck Hwang, the Tous les Jours franchise owner, be behind it? While we can confirm that Petrol Head is coming, we can’t confirm another restaurant, but rumor has it we’re in for crispy, double-fried goodness to rival Chinatown’s best. No confirmation yet, but we’re on the hunt for more—stay tuned!
New Sign Up at Sea Harbour Seafood by Chef Tony

Big News: Teso Life Rumored for Spring Mountain Center
The west end of Chinatown is buzzing!
Rumor has it Teso Life—a hot Japanese fashion and lifestyle store—is eyeing Spring Mountain Center.
Think snacks, drinks, and more, landing in the old CVS at Spring Mountain and Jones.
They’d join Fukuburger, Noodlehead, and 168 Market in this revamped hub.
Plus, new shops on the north side near Desert Inn Rd., were reborn after past fires.
Not confirmed yet, but if Teso Life hits, it’s huge—watch this space!
Chinatown Redevelopment Update: Road Conditions
For over a decade, ChinatownVegas.com has championed Chinatown’s needs.
The big headache? Spring Mountain Rd. west of Decatur—roads are falling apart with massive potholes.
It’s a hazard for cars, risking accidents and damage.
After 2+ years of construction and lane closures, Decatur’s intersection is finally done.
But just west, the fixes stop—conditions get worse.
Locals on Reddit are fuming—some suggest patching it themselves or crowdfunding repairs!
From last year’s Special Redevelopment Issue, we’re still pushing:
Cut speed to 35 mph, Valley View to Jones—safer stops.
No left turns from malls like Shanghai Plaza—end jams.
Fix light timers—less waiting, better flow.
Action’s overdue—ChinatownVegas.com keeps fighting.
Got gripes? Join us—push for a better Chinatown!
