This Week in Chinatown: A Thriving Community
Chinatown: A Beacon of Growth
While Chinatowns across the nation face challenges, our very own Chinatown continues to flourish. This week, we delve into exciting developments, from new retail spaces to the echoes of a recent Halloween celebration.
Let’s explore what’s happening in our vibrant neighborhood.
As we reported last week, a new Vietnamese restaurant is set to take over the former Lamoon location. Pho Saigonese will bring authentic Vietnamese flavors, including its signature pho, to Chinatown. The restaurant says they are hoping to open in a few months with January or February 2025 grand opening.
This exciting development is another sign of Chinatown’s continued growth and evolution.
Stay tuned for more updates on Pho Saigonese‘s opening date and menu offerings.

The event has been a huge success, drawing crowds of costumed revelers. Now, the festivities continue through the holiday season, offering a unique blend of eerie decor and festive drinks.

A Look Ahead: Chinatown’s Expanding Boundaries
Recently, a group of urban developers from Washington visited Chinatown. In discussions with the County Commissioner and dedicated Chinatown advocate, Justn Jones the future of Chinatown was explored. The vision includes expanding Chinatown’s boundaries westward, encompassing areas along Spring Mountain Road, up to and possibly beyond Tenaya Way. This expansion could incorporate major retail outlets like Sam’s Club, Walmart, and Target, further solidifying Chinatown’s position as a major commercial hub.
The Pedestrian Crossing Project
The long-awaited pedestrian crossing between Chinatown and Shanghai Plaza is on track to begin construction in February 2025. This project will significantly enhance pedestrian safety and connectivity within the neighborhood.
Chinatown’s Evolution Continues: Exciting New Mixed-Use Project on the Horizon
Chinatown’s vibrant heartbeat keeps getting stronger! As the district grows and evolves, we’re thrilled to announce a project that has us buzzing with anticipation.
Transforming the Landscape:
The former Wells Fargo Regional Campus at the southwest corner of Spring Mountain Road and Arville Street is undergoing a significant makeover. This iconic property will soon be reborn as XYZ², a dynamic mixed-use project poised to revolutionize the neighborhood.

The existing office space will be transformed into a captivating retail and restaurant destination. This exciting shift will bring Chinatown to an entirely new level, offering a unique blend of business and pleasure.

Formula 1 nightmare! Speeding cars. And those broken stairs leading to the second floor, taped off with yellow barricade tape for over 18 months. Did we forget to mention the Formula 1 nightmare?
