Chamon: A New Chapter in Las Vegas’ Chinatown Culinary Scene
Las Vegas’ Chinatown continues to evolve, and the latest addition to its vibrant dining scene is Chamon. This exciting new restaurant, specializing in tendon (tempura) donburi bowls and handcrafted onigiri, officially opens its doors on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Chamon marks a significant milestone for Las Vegas, as it’s the city’s first restaurant dedicated to these beloved Japanese dishes. The opening comes after months of anticipation, following the initial announcement of the restaurant’s return in April 2023.
Behind the success of Chamon is the same talented team responsible for the popular Monta and Kabuto in the Seoul Plaza, as well as Kaiseki Sanga located nearby. This culinary collective continues to elevate Las Vegas’ dining scene with its authentic and flavorful offerings.
Located at 5020 W Spring Mountain Rd # 6, Chamon invites you to experience the artistry and tradition of Japanese cuisine. Whether you’re craving a comforting bowl of tendon or a delightful onigiri, Chamon is the perfect destination.
Pho and Beyond Blooms in the Former Green Dispensary
The news is finally out! The new Vietnamese restaurant taking root in the former Green Dispensary has a name, and it’s one familiar to Las Vegas foodies.
As you may recall, Chinatown Vegas was again the first to break the news back in May about a new Vietnamese eatery coming to the Chinatown Decatur Plaza. Back then, we hinted at a spacious and lively atmosphere, piquing everyone’s interest.
Now, we’re thrilled to announce that the restaurant will be none other than Pho and Beyond! This popular Westside destination, renowned for its flavorful pho and authentic Vietnamese cuisine, is expanding its reach to the heart of Chinatown.
The new Pho and Beyond will occupy the former Green Dispensary space in the Chinatown Decatur Plaza., The interior underwent a complete renovation, featuring a fresh and inviting design with bamboo accents.
What We Know So Far: While an official opening date and the full menu details are still under wraps, we expect the transformation to be complete soon, bringing a taste of Pho and Beyond’s signature flavors to Chinatown.
Stay Tuned! We’ll continue to keep you updated on the grand opening date and menu highlights for this exciting addition to Chinatown’s vibrant culinary scene.

Back-to-School Boost for Teachers and Students
Las Vegas families are gearing up for the new school year with a series of community-focused events.
The Desert Breeze Community Center, located on the far west end of Spring Mountain Road, is hosting a two-day Back-to-School Fair to support local educators and students. On August 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., teachers from select elementary schools, Cashman Middle School, Clark High School, and Goodsprings and Sandy Valley will receive essential classroom supplies.
The focus shifts to students on August 3rd from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a fun-filled event featuring free backpacks, school supplies, and a variety of activities like sports, a photo booth, and even haircuts. Over 30 community partners are coming together to make this event a success.
Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Office of Community Engagement and the Jeremiah Jones Program, is a key supporter of this initiative.
Joining the Back-to-School efforts is Cultivate Dispensary. Located on the east end of Spring Mountain Road, Cultivate is hosting a school supply drive until August 1st. Bring in a school supply donation and enjoy exclusive deals. Your contribution will help ensure that students have the tools they need for a successful school year.
Let’s make this back-to-school season a memorable one for our students and teachers!
The crosswalk at the Spring Mountain and Decatur intersections has been this way for 2+ years
Chinatown Update: Walkway Approved, Construction Resumes
We’re excited to share some positive developments in the neighborhood.
First, we have long advocated for a walkway connecting the second floors of the Shanghai and Chinatown Plazas to improve accessibility and enhance the overall experience for visitors. We are thrilled to announce that this project has been approved! While we await official confirmation, this is a major step forward for Chinatown. For more details and to stay informed, check out our dedicated Chinatown Redevelopment Issue:
On a less positive note, the record-breaking heat and humidity have forced a temporary pause on the Decatur and Spring Mountain Road construction project. However, we’re told that work will resume shortly. We hope that once construction restarts, the long-overdue repair of the crosswalk at the southwest corner of the intersection will be addressed. This hazardous crosswalk has been in disrepair for over two years.
That’s a wrap for this week’s Chinatown update! Stay tuned for more exciting news and updates as Chinatown continues to evolve. We encourage you to explore our neighborhood and support local businesses.
See you next week and remember, what happens in Chinatown, happens here.
