Signage for Nagaiki Ramen has been installed at the former Noodle Nest location at the Shanghai Plaza on Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas Chinatown.
Shanghai Plaza continues to see changes among its restaurant lineup.
Nagaiki Ramen Shanghai Plaza may soon become one of Chinatown’s newest restaurant additions, as signage has been installed at the former Noodle Nest location signaling what appears to be another new addition to one of Chinatown’s most recognizable dining destinations.
Nagaiki Ramen Shanghai Plaza Brings a New Concept to Chinatown
The new restaurant advertises itself as serving “Authentic Japanese Abura Soba,” a Japanese noodle specialty that differs from traditional ramen by omitting the broth and focusing instead on flavorful sauces, oils, and toppings mixed directly with the noodles.
For longtime Chinatown visitors, the location is best known as the former home of Noodle Nest. The arrival of Nagaiki Ramen represents the latest tenant change within Shanghai Plaza, which has remained one of the district’s most active centers for restaurant openings, closures, and concept changes.
Abura soba originated in Tokyo and has become increasingly popular internationally as diners seek alternatives to traditional soup-based ramen. Instead of a broth, the noodles are tossed with a concentrated sauce and seasonings before being mixed at the table.
The addition comes during a period of continued change throughout Shanghai Plaza. Over the past year, visitors have seen multiple restaurant concepts open, close, relocate, or rebrand within the center as operators continue competing for space in one of the highest-traffic plazas in Las Vegas Chinatown.
While interior work appears to be underway still, the installation of permanent exterior signage suggests the project is progressing toward opening.
The addition further expands the growing collection of restaurants operating throughout Las Vegas Chinatown’s dining district, which now features one of the largest concentrations of Asian restaurants in the region.
ChinatownVegas.com will continue monitoring the project and provide updates as additional details become available.
