Chinatown’s Scene Heats Up
Chinatown’s culinary and cultural scene is evolving with exciting new openings and developments!
New Flavors & Nightlife:
- Mukgo Nolza: Opening in 2025 at Spring Mountain Rd, serving Asian cuisine with sci-fi karaoke vibes.
- Shoo Loong Kan: Nearing completion at Chinatown Plaza, promising remodeled hotpot dining.
- Shin-Sen-Gumi Yakitori: Bringing California’s legendary skewers to Spring Mountain Rd.
- Sea Harbour Seafood by Chef Tony: Completing its glass front at 5780 Spring Mountain Rd, ready to elevate seafood dining.
- Upcoming Spots: VT Mania (possibly Vietnamese), Pho Saigonese (in the former Lamoon space), and Jones Station Karaoke are set to add more flavor and fun.
- 168 Market Plaza Rebuild: Post-fire, the Spring Mountain Center near 3455 S Durango Dr is reborn with new stores, boosting Chinatown’s retail vibe.
Culinary Shifts:
NoButcher, the plant-based deli at 3565 S. Rainbow Blvd near Spring Mountain Rd in the Walmart Shopping Center, closed on July 7, 2025, citing underperforming sales and building issues. While west of Rainbow Blvd wasn’t traditionally Chinatown, word is the district’s energy now stretches to Tenaya. Meanwhile, buzz is growing about Carnivore Restaurant, rumored to open as America’s first 100% animal-based dining experience in Chinatown, featuring grass-fed meats, a deli, and a bone broth bar for keto and paleo fans.
Chinatown Redevelopment Plan:
On July 1, 2025, Clark County launched a 10+ year plan led by Commissioner Justin Jones to transform Chinatown. Phase One, set for Lunar New Year 2026, includes a pedestrian walkway linking Chinatown Plaza and Shanghai Plaza. Later phases will bring wider sidewalks, vibrant murals, lush trees, and safer roads, making Spring Mountain a global destination. Stay tuned for updates at chinatownvegas.com!

📜 Looking Back
A look back into the time of Las Vegas Chinatown
Looking Back: From Desert to Dishes
This week, we’re diving deep into Chinatown’s rich history with two nostalgic gems that showcase its transformation over the decades.
Way Back When: 1968
Check out this incredible image from 1968! Believe it or not, this vast, undeveloped landscape is Spring Mountain Road near Jones Boulevard, looking west, where Pho Saigonese is opening any day now! In 1968, what we now know as the bustling heart of Asian culture and commerce in Las Vegas was just open desert, marked by utility poles and a lone paved road. A classic car, likely a Ford Mustang, parked on the side, sets the scene. This stark reminder of Chinatown’s humble beginnings highlights the vibrant growth that’s made Spring Mountain Road a global destination for cuisine and culture.

Hunan Chilli Kingdom to Jipata: A Culinary Evolution
Rewind to August 2018, when we shared a vibrant photo on Imgur of Hunan Chilli Kingdom, a beloved Chinatown spot known for its fiery Hunanese flavors. Located next to sushi temple Yui Edomae, it was a go-to for bold dishes until it closed during the pandemic. It briefly reopened as Goldwater Restaurant, with the old sign still lingering, before transforming into Jipata, led by Chef Bank Atcharawan. Jipata now brings fresh Southeast Asian flavors to the same space, continuing Chinatown’s legacy of culinary reinvention. This journey from Hunan Chilli Kingdom to Jipata reflects the district’s ever-evolving spirit.
These snapshots offer a powerful perspective on Chinatown’s growth, from dusty desert to a culinary and cultural powerhouse. Share your memories of Chinatown’s past with #ChinatownVegas!

🚦 Chinatown Gripes
Urgent Fixes Needed for Chinatown
When Chinatown was born, few could have envisioned it becoming the major tourist hub it is today—a testament to its vibrant growth. We give a huge thank you to Commissioner Justin Jones for his hard work and dedication in launching the 10+ year Chinatown Redevelopment Plan on July 1, 2025, and to the Chinatown Advisory Council for giving our community a voice. With these initiatives, we’re optimistic about Chinatown’s bright future! But let’s address some urgent needs now: fill those dangerous potholes disrupting commutes, lower the speed limit to 35 mph to prevent accidents like recent ones near Decatur, and ban left turns from strip malls to ease traffic flow. Share your concerns at hello@chinatownvegas.com or with @ChinatownVegas to demand action!
