Chinatown Report: This Week in Chinatown
Las Vegas Chinatown news and analysis by Chinatownvegas.com. Food. Restaurants. Tips. Things to do. Events. What’s in? What’s out? RUMORS + much more
Chinatown Vegas hopes everyone had a wonderful Chinese Lunar New Year. We kicked off with a festival at the Chinatown Plaza. On the 29th, we continue celebrating the Year of the Rabbit at the 2nd annual Desert Breeze Spring Festival. Desert Breeze Park is also located on Spring Mountain Rd., a few minutes west of Chinatown. The event will start with a lion dance at 11 AM and the festivities will continue until 2 PM. Emcee for the event will be Asian Community Ambassador Sou Weet.
Also this week, the prestigious James Beard Awards were announced and our Chinatown has TWO winners. In total, Las Vegas had 5 nominees, which is our best representation to date. We hope that each year going forward Las Vegas receives more and more nominations, however for bragging rights, we doubt any Chinatown in the USA will ever have two semi-finalist winners. Kaoru Azeuchi of Kaiseki Yuzu and Jimmy Li of ShangHai Taste are the Chinatown chefs nominated for best chefs in the Southwest. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 5 in Chicago. We wish our nominees the best of luck.
Let’s have a look and see what is new in Chinatown.
Starting from the east and heading west on Spring Mountain Rd.
What’s Up at The Center at Spring Mountain?
Smash, Wreck, and Vent and not get in trouble for it
Feel like breaking something for no reason? Well, now might be a good time with a great deal at the Wreck Room. The Wreck Room, which we have featured in the 8 Cool Things to do in Chinatown has a Groupon deal that is hard to beat. Guests choose between a baseball bat or a crowbar as their weapon and get to smash ordinary household items. What a great way to let off some steam! Don’t feel like wreckin’ but wanna watch? The Wreck Room has a live feed that you can watch from the lobby if you aren’t able to participate. Each steel “rage” room has one large item, 5 medium items, and 15 small items. Remember, you are not paying to break things – you’re paying for them to clean up what you break!

New Menu Items at Moxie Restaurant and Ultra Lounge
Moxie Ultra Lounge resembles a club you would find at a top strip casino. It’s gorgeous inside. It’s a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, and a club that specializes in Asian tapas, specialty cocktails, and high-quality hookah, and features special guest DJs.
They have some additions to their menu such as “Bang Bang” Cauliflower, which is fried cauliflower tossed in a spicy “ultra” sauce and tossed with green onions. For the carnivores, they have added a 36OZ “Yin-Yang” Tomahawk steak. The bang bang cauliflower is $17 and the steak is $150
Need a good cup of coffee for under 20 cents a day? We gotcha covered.

The interior is set to be a modern-style industrial warehouse along with state-of-the-art video/audio systems in the bar area and in each room. Some of the larger rooms will contain a small lit-up stage for patrons to enjoy and sing on, each room will be designed differently and will have its own unique look and feel.
