Something new is taking shape along South Jones Boulevard.
A bright red “Coming Soon” banner has gone up for Dough Master Noodles & Dumplings at Mountain View Plaza, 3400 S. Jones Blvd., Suite 14A. And while the menu is still a mystery, the restaurant’s hiring signs are giving us a pretty good idea of what’s ahead.
And yes, the name is a clue.
Dough Master Noodles & Dumplings: Noodles and a Few Clues
The restaurant is looking for hand-pulled noodle chefs and xiao long bao specialists, along with kitchen helpers and apprentices.
That’s a fairly specific wish list.
Hand-pulled noodles require a practiced touch, while xiao long bao — those delicate dumplings traditionally filled with meat and savory broth — are a specialty all their own.
For anyone curious about the craftsmanship behind Chinese dumplings, the MICHELIN Guide’s Asian dumpling guide offers a closer look at the different styles and traditions.
Whether Dough Master plans to prepare everything in view of diners remains to be seen, but the hiring signs suggest both noodles and dumplings will be central to the kitchen.
Another New Neighbor on Jones Boulevard
Mountain View Plaza is already familiar territory for Chinatown regulars, with restaurants including China Mama and Ramen Tatsu nearby.
Now Dough Master is preparing to join the mix.
There’s no announced opening date, no published menu, and not much else to go on just yet. But the banners are hanging, the restaurant is recruiting, and we’ll be watching for the next development.
